In the late seventies and early eighties, record labels and periodicals other than fashion magazines did not use professional hair-and-makeup people or clothing stylists on shoots. It was rare for them to pay for use of a photo studio or for any assistants…I wanted to help artists have an identity that fit their music…I did it myself or got friends who did that kind of work to help me..
