Lawrence Schiller – Marilyn Monroe (On Couch) & Paula Strasburg, 1962

Lawrence Schiller first picked up a camera in junior high. Even though a childhood accident left him visually impaired in one eye, he became an obsessive photographer; having pictures already in Life, Sport, Playboy, Glamour and the Saturday Evening Post while attending Pepperdine College. Schiller soon developed a career in print journalism, documenting stories for magazines worldwide, including Life, Look, Newsweek, Time, Paris Match, Stern and the London Sunday Times.

This photograph was taken in the private dressing room on the studio back lot, where only 4 special villas like this existed at Twentieth Century Fox.  Paula Strasberg was Marilyn’s acting coach and confidante, and the second wife of Lee Strasberg.
